Regular season performances take place in Woolsey Hall, a 2,650-seat concert auditorium, and one of the bicentennial buildings of Yale University.
The Woolsey Series is generously supported by the Daniel Feller ’74 Yale Symphony Endowment Fund in Honor of John Mauceri (Music Director 1968-74).
The annual Halloween Show on October 31st at midnight is YSO’s most unique performance: the orchestra plays a soundtrack, consisting of pop music, movie soundtracks, and classical pieces, to a silent film written by, produced by, directed by, and starring YSO members. Woolsey Hall is packed with students for one of the biggest events of the fall semester.
In addition to the Woolsey Hall Series, the YSO performs special concerts throughout the year.
Family Weekend Concert: An evening of music by the Yale Symphony Orchestra, the Yale Bands, and the Yale Glee Club.
Messiah Audience Singalong: Each December, the Yale Glee Club performs with Yale Symphony Orchestra and soloists from the Yale School of Music and the Institute of Sacred Music to present its annual Handel’s Messiah Audience Sing-along at Battell Chapel, located on the corner of Elm and College Streets on the campus of Yale University.
Commencement Concert: A one hour concert featuring and celebrating the graduating seniors of the Yale Symphony Orchestra.
Tickets for our regular season concerts to the general public are $3-$15. Tickets must be purchased in advance of the concert. Tickets will not be sold at the door. Concerts listed as “Free” (i.e. Family Weekend, Commencement) do not require a ticket.
Yale College students are entitled to a free ticket to all of our regular season Woolsey Concerts (excluding Halloween); free student tickets become available the morning of each event. Advanced registration is required. No students will be admitted without a ticket.
